Vegan Challenge - Day 7
Day 7 was good….too many potatoes, though. I bought a HUGE bag of mixed, frozen vegetables so I will be playing around with those today. Hugo was somewhat bummed that I didn’t offer him any quinoa so I’ll have to come up with something tonight for him to try.
hemp
I have finally tested my hemp products and have some things to say about them.
First, the protein powder! I purchased 2 types. the first one was this one and the other one was this one. The original flavor was almost as bad as the shitshakes from january. The smell was foul, the color was disgusting, and the texture was plain awful. To be fair, I mixed it in plain ol water, but I couldn’t see ruining perfectly good juice on it once I opened the packet. It was a green color and smelled like you would imagine a ground up hemp plant to smell. Sort of like…compost…only nuttier.
The vanilla spice was tolerable. I opened it this morning and took a whiff. I was hopeful when my gag reflex wasn’t activated. I pulled out the blender and whipped it with sweetened vanilla almond milk. It tasted good, it smelled fine, but the texture is still all off. It’s like drinking sand…creamy vanilla sand. Vanilla soft scrub for your colon, if you will.
Of course the vanilla is more expensive than the original and perhaps the original would be ok in baking, but the jury is still out on whether or not I am going to buy more or try another brand.
I also tried cold pressed hemp seed oil in my oat meal yesterday and it did make it taste very nutty but it wasn’t unpleasant. I might use it in salad dressings on occasion, but at around $1/oz it might be a rare occasion.
What are the health benefits of hemp?

It is natures perfect plant. We really need to legalize industrial hemp in this country and eat more of it.
