06-08-06sumtreepretty_eyesthatslay.jpgIn an attempt to do something, I’ve been buying ecologically friendly cleaning products.
So far I have tried 3 different Seventh Generation products. Sadly enough, I have had 3 bad experiences with these products. I really wanted them to work out for us because SG is an American company and they have their hearts in all the right places.

Dish soap, dishwasher detergent, and laundry detergent. All of them with very meh performance. It might be our water. I kinda doubt it. I was at a local health food store and they had some Ecover products, a Belgian company with a good reputation. I picked up the dish soap, hoping it would be better. It was a lot better. It was tons better. So today I replaced a bunch of stuff around the house with Ecover merch: softener, laundry detergent, dishwasher detergent, & dish soap. All of it Vegan certified but the dish soap…it has milk whey in it to soften your skin (oh how it works. sorry cows. :( )

  • i tried to buy domesticity.com but it is taken and the registrant never responded to my attempts to purchase. poo.
  • domesticity.org is pending deletion because the registrant did not renew it. it’s so mine.
  • i would give…way too much money to find this because i want an apron so bad.
  • apparently kombucha is vegan.
  • i’m having trouble finishing lolita. i can handle disaster when it surprises me, but when i know it is inevitable as the sunset i freeze.

intro

I sat down here to write a bit about some recent meditations and thought bunnies I have been chasing. Among them the craft, veganism, dog training, and Buddhism. I opened Firefox to my iGoogle homepage which has a daily horoscope widget on it.

Just because you have a high level of integrity and are willing to do the spiritual work required by your beliefs, don’t think you are better than everyone else. Be careful about self-righteousness; it will only isolate you from those you love. It’s healthier to realize that everyone is on their own path and is exactly where they should be at this time.

Not that being a twit was in my mind at all, but it was interesting how the universe popped up to warn me about turning into a twit. So maybe I should just say, “Yeah, those things are on my mind,” and leave it at that. Maybe. :)

photo

I bought a camera bag yesterday. The camera and flash barely fit in the main compartment, but it works. If I get another lens, it will stop working in a hurry. I’ve managed to cram the camera, flash, USB cable, 3 CF cards, 4 extra AA batteries, a screw driver, camera video cable, avalanche keys, palm tx, wallet, 4gb USB key, iPod, earbuds, chapstick, XM radio, eyepiece for viewfinder, and a stash of claratin in the thing.

If you haven’t downloaded any Blitzkid, seriously, what in the world are you waiting for??? Do it!

house

I made a remodeling type decision about the house. I want a semi-matte dark grey tile with black grout everywhere, even in the bathrooms. I want black doors and black baseboards. I haven’t decided about the walls but they will be awesome colors in the bedrooms. On one of those remodeling shows the other morning, I saw a woman do her entire bathroom in a pond flower mosaic. It was breathtaking when she was finished and made me realize how much i want a 100% tiled bathroom. With a nice big tub. Dream on, dream big.

coco

Coco is doing better *fingers crossed* When I picked her up, I made a deal with XM Radio that it could name my puppy with the next 3 song titles. Her real name is Ruby Date Rape North American Scum. I couldn’t have made that up and made it quite so perfect if I had tried for HOURS. Her official name on the papers is going to be Coco Chien-elle Pancake…because she isn’t my dog and I’m still pretty clever. (Seriously, if you don’t get that you ruin my fun.)

outro

I’m looking for some sort of training program dealing with my spirituality. Not only to teach me things but to help me get into a daily and involved spiritual practice. I’ve looked at two books (this series & this one) and an online course and I’m not sure about any of them. Someone with experience in this area or someone with a positive opinion or thought to add would be handy.

March13

You know what? This Blaqkaudio track is goddamn fantastic. I’m a pretty big fan of electronic music. Dance. Industrial. Trance. SynthPop. Whatever. It’s my scene, you could say, if i had one.

I’m rather excited for this album. Grim’s eyes might roll right out of his head, but I think it will be rather delightful. By delightful I mean grab you by your jacobs and rip your heart out on the dancefloor.

Let the moshnmope commence.

*lights a clove*

anyway, i found a Digital Scrapbooking magazine at Kroger yesterday. I was amazed in that they decided to call what i have been doing for years digital scrapbooking. Another hobby with a proper name instead of “that one thing i do to waste hours and hours.” that file folder is getting rather plump.

the magazine is pictures of people’s brats mostly, layered with brushes and patterns and scans of lace and ribbon. very betty crocker meets deviant art. my portfolio is filled with buttcracks, rust, circus freaks, and midgets flipping the bird.

i like to think it sets me apart. i’m thinking of submitting some of my pieces. heh.

i’ve been so fucking productive lately i feel kinda weird. I’ve gotten ALL and i do mean ALL the laundry done. I make the beds every morning. I get up when i wake up (which can be as early as 4:30am) and workout. I am focused. I make dinner every night. I work consistently and efficiently. I am good at solving problems easily.

i had a friday thirteen prepared last week 2 days ahead of time…because i have been THAT productive and mindful. until friday when i forgot to actually put it up. way to show off.

In short, i’ve felt like someone else this past week; me. i’m rather taken with me. i hope i stick around.

Last night i learned the power of cornstarch in asian (and well, any) cooking. I need some dark sesame oil, rice vinegar, and some pure non GMO soy oil. i am smitten with stirfry at the moment. i wish i had a wok. fried rice!!!!

i’m going back to work now.

i should be getting ready to leave and do lots of work, but there is only so much i can take before my tea. i’ve been rather productive this morning already. 3 loads of laundry. clean kitchen. fed animals.

last night was even more productive. i bought a new book, The Knitting Answer Book. fantastic little publication and it taught me to purl, which the internet couldn’t even manage. i am now churning out stockinette stitches like i was born doing it. i’ll probably finish up this “project” and move onto something else. probably something that doesn’t look deformed on one end. one of the books i looked at yesterday has instructions for a skull sweater. be still, my dark little heart.

oh, and i broke pivot last night. more at 11.

today is supposedly a holiday, but you wouldn’t know it around here. business as usual. mondays are especially rough. i am trying to get everything done today that needs and wants doing so i can maybe hit a sale or two and get some new boots and pants. both of which i desperately need. all my pants are coming apart at the seams in the inner thigh area and my boots soles have split all the way to the insole. no fun.

time for work.
