Edition #006
- When the government tested 60 soft, vinyl lunch boxes, they found one in five contained hazardous levels of lead, but neglected to tell the public.
- North Dakota has issued the first U.S. industrial hemp licenses.
- Here is a rather interesting article on replacing halogen lamps with Mini CFls and LEDs
- Australia to ban incandescent bulbs.
- IKEA is to going to charge US customers for plastic bags.
- No lawn to grow tasty organic veggies? How about a hydroponic growing closet for your kitchen?
- i do not believe in global warming. why? there have been numerous studies to show that what is happening in our world right now with the weather is part of a cycle. Our species is relatively young and just because things have “always been this way” doesn’t mean they have. They have drilled giant core samples out of Antartica and can see where the ice melted a whole lot…then froze back…then melted a whole lot again, etc.
does that mean that i don’t agree with the green revolution? fuck no. according to scientists this part of the cycle we are experiencing now shouldn’t have happened again for a LONG time. we are impacting the planet with our industrial consumer culture, no argument there. everyone needs to just chill out, sell their hummer, and move out of florida and hawaii.
- i am learning how to program our thermostat which has wake, sleep, leave, and return modes. wake and sleep, i think we can use. i am running here and there so much i don’t think leave and return would do us much good. In the winter we keep the house around 69-70° and about 72° in the summer because of all the electronics.
- levi’s eco line appears to be less ugly than most organic clothes. i am waiting for hemp pants to become mainstream though. maybe in a decade or two…
- i’ve started to do a little financial planning and i’m looking for some ethically & financially sound investments. i’m thinking some sort of renewable energy source might be good. I’d also like a retirement fund, but i don’t know if i’d like to base my retirement on something in that vein when…..we’ll i don’t know why. i think this thought needs a lot more thinking on.
- if i see one more redneck flick a butt out of their window i am going on a honking, light flashing, obscenity screaming, scene making crusade.
- Tennessee’s had enough.
- and because being vegan is good for the environment, your community, and your colon, enjoy some food porn.
What is this? I admittedly ripped this idea off from the thursday thirteen. why? cause i think friday thirteen sounds a whole lot cooler than thursday.
Like my Friday 13? Wanna do your own Friday Thirteen? Go for it.
